Soka Gakkai International is a lay society of individuals practising Nichiren Buddhism. As an active Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) the SGI is dedicated to cultivating peace, through Buddhist practice. Activities also focus on education and culture. There are currently SGI members in over 192 countries and territories throughout the world.
In this country, SGI-UK holds small, informal discussion meetings in peoples’ homes on a local basis, once a month. Guests are always welcome to come along and share their views. Study sessions are held monthly at Pinner Village Hall.
The aim of our Buddhist practice is to foster humanistic principles. Through the chanting of Nam Myoho Renge Kyo (the title of the Lotus Sutra, as taught by the founder of Buddhism) it is possible to access the life state of the Buddha and reveal our unique potential. Respect for all life is paramount, and our motto in SGI-UK is ‘Trust Through Friendship, Peace through Trust’.
If you would like to come along to one of the gatherings mentioned above,
